A Journey Inward

I’m very excited to announce that my new EP A Journey Inward has just been released. Listen at Apple MusicSpotifyGoogle Play, or wherever you stream your music.

A Journey Inward is an EP I’ve wanted to make for a long time now. It’s really one unified piece of music, divided into four sections. It’s intended as a soundtrack for meditation, yoga, and sleeping. A Journey Inward is meant to be felt as much as heard. All sounds were made with Teenage Engineering’s OP-1 and a selection of natural field recordings.

Importance of Vision…

A major element to the creation of A Journey Inward was having a solidified story before I began. I think that once I had clear intentions for the EP, the music pretty much fell into place. You can hear my thoughts on this and how it applies to making music in general during episode #156 of the Music Production Podcast.

See How the Album Was Made

Watch the entire creation of the first 4 tracks of A Journey Inward during my #Jamuary2020 jams. I think you can see that I had the “story” of the EP pretty clearly defined from the beginning. Track 5, “Night Becomes Day,” was made during #FinishFebruary and I didn’t make a video of its creation. However, the process was the same as all the other days.

Creation of track 2 “Airwaves”

Creation of track 3 “Ascension”

A Few Shoutouts…

Big thanks to everyone in the Music Production Club Discord Server that helped keep me motivated by pushing through #Jamuary2020 and #FinishFebruary2020!

Also thanks to Jörgen Kjellgren, whose music and conversation on the Music Production Podcast was a massive inspiration on this EP.
