How to Make Drums from Gravitational Waves! Free Download!
Recently, scientists discovered the existence of gravitational waves. It confirms the predictions Albert Einstein made back in 1916. The discovery comes from two black holes that collided 1.3 billion years ago. The sounds of this massive and unimaginably powerful event finally reached Earth in February. Here's a recording of what that sounds like:
And here's Brian Greene to explain it:
The Oldest Drum Kit Ever!
Ok, so the point is not to give you all a science lesson. I'm always looking for interesting sounds to use in my music, and it's hard to get a more exciting sound than that of two black holes colliding. I recently visited Berklee Online (where I teach the Advanced Music Production with Ableton Live course) to do some tutorial videos. I could think of nothing more epic than building drums from not one but two black holes! Check out the video below in which I walk you through the process. Then head over to Berklee's site to download my 147th Free Ableton Live Pack, The Black Hole Drums! With samples from 1.3 billion years ago, I think it is safe to say that this is the oldest Drum Rack ever created!
I hope you find that as exciting as I do! I'm really pleased with how the Gravitational Waves Kit came out. I'd love to hear any music you make with it. Be sure to send me a link via Twitter!
