2 Minute Ableton Tip #31: Recording Dummy Clips Live

Quickly and Easily Create Dummy Clips in Ableton Live 9

Dummy Clips is a powerful Ableton technique for creating interesting and evolving effects.  If you are not familiar with the idea, watch Tom Cosm's in depth video.  It's a great technique, but a little painstaking, because you had to draw in each envelop in each dummy clip.  Now that Ableton Live allows for clip automation recording in the session view, this process is 100 times easier.  Check out the video below as I show you how to start recording automation into dummy clips on the fly, live.  It's a great use of my favorite Live 9 feature, clip automation recording.

PS the synth sound you hear in the video is Robert Chamber's Nokia Dumb Phone.
